King Of The Hill

Purpose

A lot of people say that their machine is secure, but how many really are secure? COSSFest is setting up a hostile network with target machines, giving you a chance to see how strong your computing offense and defense skills are.

Guidelines / Rules

  • No mounting unmounted hard drives on other competitors personal machines. This contest is supposed to be fun, not frustrating.
  • There will be wired and wireless connections. To get on the wireless network, you will need to get the key from one of the judges.
  • There will be three target machines on the network, each with running web services that will be measured by uptime. Whoever has the longest combined uptime is the winner.
  • The machine will be considered owned by whomever has their flag on the web services. "Pwned by (your name here)" will suffice.
  • No bricking the routers, DOS attacks, or turning off the target machines. Lamers who do this will get disqualified.

Deadline for contest admission is one hour before contest start. Wired connections are on a first-come first-serve basis (and with all the noise on the wireless network, you'll /want/ a wired connection), so get in as early as possible. The hostile network will be on for all of COSSFEST, so feel free to join in on the mayhem fun!

Judges have final word on judgements of disqualifications and winners.

By taking part in the contest you take sole responsibility for your computer and data.
