March 2010

COSSFEST is getting close. The excitement is building. And information is starting to flow very quickly (for us planners at least).

There have been some very large updates and changes in the past little while.

- The cost of admission has been dropped drastically. After talking with the hotel and our sponsors, we were able to drop the ticket price to $15 per day! And there is a $5 discount with a student ID (courtesy of Userful - http://www.userful.ca).

- The schedule is now available. http://www.cossfest.ca/schedule. While this is fairly firm, there will be changes as the speakers get us more information regarding their own schedules and desires. The "official" schedule will be available at the COSSFEST registration desk.

- Speaker details have been updated. There are a few new speakers, and we have topic descriptions and bios available where possible.

- A new contest has been added. John Jardine will be hosting a CORE WARS contest (http://www.cossfest.ca/contests/corewars).

- Marketing posters have been made available. We need your help in getting the word out. Print out one of the posters and post someplace suitable.

- LAN Party! A LAN Party is being planned for the evening of Friday, April 9th. The Supreme SuperGamer LiveDVD will be the source of the fun. (http://supergamer.org/)

- Social Party! Also on the evening of Friday, April 9th will be a social / networking party. This is your chance to mix with the speakers, planners, and other open source users and supporters. Warning: A karaoke machine *may* be seen during this event. :)

As you can see there is a LOT on the go. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
